CQRS is considered an over-complicated and academic pattern. The type of pattern that is nice to see at a conference talk but not necessarily used at work. There are many myths around it that it requires messaging tools, two databases, eventual consistency, event sourcing, etc. During my talk, I will bust those myths and distil the essence of CQRS. I will show that CQRS can be simple, pragmatic and completely practical.

I’m an independent architect and consultant. I started a career before StackOverflow existed. For over 15 years, I’ve been creating systems close to the business process. I believe that Event-Driven Architecture and Event Sourcing are great ways to achieve that. I try to help others to implement it properly, showing both the light and the dark side of those approaches.

I’m an active open-source developer and one of the Marten library maintainers. I’m sharing my journey and findings on my blog https://event-driven.io, Architecture Weekly newsletter https://www.architecture-weekly.com/ and practical samples at https://github.com/oskardudycz.
